Rice straw, which was in the past considered as agricultural waste- to be openly burnt or disposed of in the canals- is gaining value as animal fodder, especially for smallholder farmers who cannot afford concentrated feeds. This video shows the experience of smallholder farmers in the Nile Delta with processing rice straw with urea to produce fodder with a higher protein content.
