Housing hygiene is one of main challenges smallholder dairy farming face in Malawi. This is noted through milk rejection rate at milk collection centres. IFS-SMADAP project in Malawi worked with selected smallholder dairy farmers in Milk Bulking Groups (MBG) in Blantyre Milk Shed Area. Cleaning of kraal floors had been a problem because mud accumulation on earthen floors. Intervention was introduced among farmers to make concrete floors through pass-on cement program. It became easy to clean floors for those with concrete and had reduced somatic cell count unlike earthen floors
